To list on FishingBooker, you'll need to upload a government ID and – for most captains – your Captain's license. In the US, carrying paying passengers generally requires a USCG captain's credential, so if you have one, upload it and you'll be ready to go live.

You can also add your insurance and boat registration for extra visibility with customers. We review every document manually to keep the platform trusted.

Some guides, like certain kayak or inland outfitters in certain areas, aren't required to hold a captain's license for the craft and waters they operate in. If that might be you, don't let the license step stop you – start your listing and our team will confirm exactly what you need.

You can choose the payment model that fits your business best:

1. Paid in full online (available to captains in the US, MX, and AU)
   Your customers pay the full trip amount upfront with a credit card. Once the trip is successfully completed, the money is automatically transferred to your account. If the customer cancels late, you'll receive up to 90% of the trip price, depending on your cancellation policy.
2. Deposit payment option
   FishingBooker secures a deposit when the customer books, and you collect the remaining balance directly from the customer on the day of the trip. If the customer cancels too late, FishingBooker pays you the full deposit amount, equal to your commission rate.

No, Instant Book is a choice, not a requirement. Charters with Instant Book see 2x the number of trips and get higher exposure to customers. We recommend turning it on with an advance notice period you're comfortable with – 3 days works for most new charters.

We know that bad weather is an unavoidable part of running a charter, which means that sometimes it's necessary to cancel a trip. Safety is our ultimate priority. This is why we make sure you're fully in control of bad weather cancellations.

Your listing won't be affected if you need to cancel a trip due to bad weather, even if it's last minute, and the customer will receive a full refund.

For customer cancellations, you decide how far ahead customers can cancel free of charge – 1, 3, 7, 14, or 30 days before the trip. If a customer cancels after your deadline, you keep their deposit as a cancellation fee. For captains using Full Payments, you'll receive up to 90% of the trip price instead.

FishingBooker's calendar helps you stay on top of your bookings, on our website and beyond. All you need to do is keep it up to date. You can:

1. Block off any unavailable days as soon as you know your schedule, so customers can see exactly when you're free;
2. Connect your other online calendars to your FishingBooker calendar, so that your availability is automatically updated across all channels;
3. Link together your different FishingBooker calendars if you have more than one listing;
4. Turn on Instant Book and let customers book immediately without worrying about your trips overlapping;
5. Choose your own advance notice period, which shows customers the minimum notice period you need in order to receive a booking.

You can connect any calendar that supports a public iCal link. The most common calendars captains connect are Google, Apple, and Outlook.
